- 2013/12/31 Our paper "On the development of a dynamic non-linear closure for large-eddy simulation of the atmospheric boundary layer" was accepted by Boundary-Layer Meteorology. It is well known that the subgrid-scale (SGS) parametrization represents a critical component of a successful large-eddy simulation (LES). In LES of high-Reynolds-number atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) turbulence, standard eddy-viscosity models poorly predict mean shear in the near-wall region and yield erroneous velocity and temperature profiles. The model is assessed through a systematic comparison with well-established theoretical predictions and reference results of various flow statistics. Results from large-eddy simulations of a neutral atmospheric boundary layer and a stable atmospheric boundary layer using the new closure show good agreement with reference results.
- 2013/07/03 I just heard that Wai-Chi Cheng and Fernando Porte-Agel's paper "Evaluation of subgrid-scale models in large-eddy simulation of flow past a two-dimensional block" has been accepted by International Journal of Heat and Fluid Flow. This work shows an example of the application of the new nonlinear model.
- 2013/06/30 The byethost one (haolu.iblogger.org) was down. I tried to pay and make it back, but did not work out. So, my personal page was moved to co.nf (or biz.nf), and started to record "News."
- 2012/12/06 Our paper "A modulated gradient model for scalar transport in large-eddy simulation of the atmospheric boundary layer" was accepted by Physics of Fluids. Together with the previous one "A modulated gradient model for large-eddy simulation: Application to a neutral atmospheric boundary layer", I believed it is a milestone in nonlinear LES modeling.
